This slide illustrates the distribution of the “rare” species (those present at a single collecting area) relative to the Tranquillity Demonstration Site. Green triangles are those that contain at least one “rare” species; the number associated with each triangle indicates the number of “rare” species present at that site.

It can be readily seen that the collecting areas with the greatest number of “rare” species are situated in the foothills and along the “transition” between foothills and valley floor.
